November Updates

In the coming days, I plan to post the audio of the premiere of St. Patrick’s Hymn by the Greenville Chorale and Symphony. It was a THRILLING performance. A well-known choral composer friend of mine listened to the recording and said “I think I would have broken down in tears, hearing that!” I said “No, I just smiled a lot”.  (A LOT!)

Meanwhile- several updates to the site tonight. I posted audio files for my three Beckenhorst new releases, at the top of the “New Releases” playlist over there on the right. (You should be hearing them right now).

  • When I Survey: SATB arrangement of “The Water Is Wide” tune. Dual-texted with Amazing Grace.
  • I also included the audio mockup of the When I Survey orchestration. I can’t wait to hear that one in real life!
  • I Know That My Redeemer Lives. A very vigorous setting of the WONDERFUL early American tune, for SATB choir and 4-hand piano. Just listen-  you’ll see what I mean by “very vigorous”. :-)
  • In Your Footsteps: a beautiful Duane Nichols text for Lent and Easter, in a poignant and eventually triumphant setting for SATB chorus and piano.

I also updated several pages about new releases, commissions, etc. November is a very busy month for me, as you’ll see on the Upcoming Events page!

Concerts this week

My blog has been pretty silent this fall- partly due to Facebook and partly due to busy-ness.

This week sees two performances in Greenville, SC. The BJU Chorale is performing A Basque Lullaby, Where Go the Boats, and Over Havet (which is pretty new, and not even in print yet), on their fall concert, this Friday Oct 22 in War Memorial Chapel at BJU.

Also, this Saturday is the premiere of St. Patrick’s Hymn by the Greenville Chorale and Symphony, at the Peace Center in downtown Greenville.

Looking forward to both!
