Te Deum Sneak Peek
From the editor’s preface to my forthcoming Te Deum:
“In times past, the great composers of spiritual music usually had patrons; churches, the nobility, and others worked to discover and support these composers, affording them the time and resources needed to create, to publish, and to subsist — at least modestly. Today, however, the practical demands of the music business tend to govern the process. Publishers, to justify their investments, must have rapid sales volumes rarely typical of the relatively narrow sphere of major works for the church and concert hall. Yet, one can assume that composers capable of creating such music are out there, their talent not harvested and perhaps even undiscovered. So, what can be done?”
