ForrestFest Recording!

For those of you waiting on the ForrestFest recording (especially my dear BJU students)- I’m happy to say it’s finally available, from the BJU Campus Store (800.252.1927).

It’s a beautiful recording. Many thanks, Dr. Cook, Chorale, and Concert Choir, for this!

Sneak Peek…

Check this out…

A little progress…

Whew! What a busy week! I had two recording sessions, chapel piano duty all week, a contest entry deadline, a trip to Chicago, no less than two sewer repairs, a broken cable (internet) connection, a guest trombonist playing my trombone sonata, dinner with said trombonist, various family appointments, and amidst that, an orchestration of Carol of Joy due to Ron Staheli by the end of the week! God was gracious, though, as always, and enabled it all to be done. And I just sent the orchestration to Ron.

I did splurge tonight, and happily installed some track lighting in my home office- it’s much better focused than my previous lighting, and I have a dimmer on it so that I don’t have to get washed out with glare late at night, either. (I must confess to being a bit of a light snob). :-)

Tomorrow I hope to enjoy some outdoor work with my family- cleanup, planting, etc…I’m ready to get my hands dirty, after a week like this! Then, music rolls on, with the BJU band piece, the brass/organ version of Arise, Shine!, and several other orchestrations, amidst end-of-semester busyness and more Soundforth recording sessions…

Trombone Sonata Performance

Dr. Mike Hall (former professor of trombone at the University of Kansas; currently professor of trombone at Old Dominion University in Virginia) will be performing a recital of trombone literature including my Sonata for Trombone and Piano, next Thursday (Nov 15) at 4:00 in Stratton Hall on the BJU campus. The concert is free and open to the public. Dr. Hall took a liking to my sonata when I first wrote it while at KU, and has performed it in several venues over the last couple of years. Come support one of the best trombonists you’ll have heard, and new music, too!

ForrestFest Recording Update

For those of you who are asking: The ForrestFest recording is indeed in production- we’re working on editing/mastering it, and it should be available from the BJU Campus Store in the not-too-distant future. I’ll put up an announcement on this site when it’s indeed available.
