Facebook

Ok…I finally gave in…and joined Facebook. :-) It’ll just be a presence (as a Musician, so it’s a public page, and I have “fans” instead of “friends”) and will point here to my blog for content. But it’s getting harder and harder to not be in Facebook anymore- this seems like a good way to have a presence there.

PS) I recently discovered that comments on my site weren’t getting through. I hope to have fixed that now- I’m sorry if you tried to comment and couldn’t!

Soundforth CD Premiere

The Soundforth CD, King of Love, is now available! The premiere concert went very well tonight, and Soundforth sold out of the CDs at the concert. Thankfully, they have a good supply at the warehouse, and the “premiere” price of 10$ will be honored at the BJU Campus Store all day tomorrow (Thursday)…

One more audio file sample…

Here’s the first 3:30 of The King of Love My Shepherd Is

Premiere Concert is tomorrow night (Wednesday) at BJU’s Bible Conference; the CD will be available after the concert.

Soundforth CD Sneak Peek

The new Soundforth CD will be released in 10 days! We’ve already given pre-release copies to several people to review; some reviews/posts can be found here, here, here, and here.

Even better, though, I have permission to post some audio on my site! So- here’s Be Thou My Vision- which I wrote originally for piano and SATB choir; on the CD, though, it’s in a new scoring for harp (played by Prentiss Kendall), cello (played by Sharon Mulfinger [!]), and SATB choir. Take a listen, leave a comment if you like, and then buy the CD next week! :-)

ACDA recap, and Site revisions

We’re back from Louisville. Hard to capture in words how breathtakingly the BJU Chorale sang today. They received continuous accolades from the convention attendees, afterward, and the Hinshaw booth ran out of copies of my pieces to give to prospective buyers. Best of all, the choral world at large got a little taste of what’s going on in Greenville, that they hadn’t been aware of! We’re proud as punch (in case you couldn’t tell!) of Warren and the Chorale.

Second- I’ve revised my site, so take a look through the new page content- music is now organized by choral vs. instrumental, and church vs. content. There’s no longer a separate audio files page. There’s a new page devoted to sacred piano collections, and also a “news” page that lists upcoming events and publications. For now, I’m still not publicly posting my commission schedule; I have to have something to blog about, while I’m working on it, and besides, many commissions are surprises that I can’t spoil!

From Louisville…

The convention is in full swing. The BJU Chorale had a fine rehearsal tonight, and should be all set for tomorrow’s performance- some very beautiful things are happening!

The men’s and women’s choirs from the U of Kentucky sang today, and were both electrifying! The women’s chorus brought out a whole array of specialties, from Venezuelan guitar, to spirituals, to the performance of an opera scene….and the men’s chorus offered a spine-tingling selection from Kentucky Harmony (IDUMEA, sung on solfege in a wonderfully authentic style!), a fabulous unpublished setting of “When David heard…”, and a Pirates of Penzance medley that had the audience in stitches.

Also, BJU alumnus Megan McCauley sang a solo as part of the UK Women’s choir- a fabulous job, including a high D!

PS) I’m going to re-organize the pages and content on my site, so pardon the confusion over the next few days, on the tabs above…

HBU News Article

Just found out about this article today, about my visit to HBU last month.

ACDA Week!

The upcoming Soundforth CD release will take a back seat this week, to the BJU Chorale’s trip to the Southern Division Convention of the ACDA. It’s an immense honor for them to have been invited, and we’re all proud as punch of Dr Cook and the singers! Their program includes three Forrest pieces (Arise Shine, You Are The Music, and Oread Farewell), so we’re heading up to Louisville to attend the convention and hear them. We’ll also hear Anonymous 4- who I haven’t heard before- looking forward to that…
