ASCAPlus Award

Yeah! I got my annual ASCAPlus Standard Award notification today (it seems later than usual, and I had started to wonder…). I’m thankful for another one, but especially thankful that my award amount went up again this year! The award amounts are based on the amount of activity (performances, recordings, etc) your compositional efforts in the last year generated. I wasn’t sure if my entry this year was quite as strong as the previous year’s, even, but apparently the judges liked it even more than last year’s.

The Lord shows Himself gracious by daily loading us with benefits that we don’t deserve!

In other news, the school year is off and running, and I’m having a ball teaching some of my very favorite topics and classes. Also, the Soundforth recording sessions are officially underway, and (happily!) I have a stack of orchestrating work to do for it, as well.

I recently completed (I think?) the commission for Daniel Baldwin and his Santana, KS High School choir- it’s a Christmas anthem entitled “There is faint music”. I like how it came out. They’ll be premiering it in Kansas on Dec 2, and there will possibly be a couple performances after that, this Christmas, around BJU too- we’ll see.

Lastly- an upcoming performance note: the Choral Arts Ensemble (Rochester, MN) will be including selected movements of Words From Paradise on their October 11 concert in Assissi Heights… Tickets are available through their website…More details soon.
