- A Prayer Before Singing (2010) A short acappella choral setting of a moving John Donne text. Will be premiered at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, Greenville SC, June 2010. Not yet published.
- Over Havet (2010) A 9 minute original work, with a deeply moving text by Charles Anthony Silvestri, tracing the journey of a Norwegian immigrant to America. Premiered April 2010 by the Staley High School (Kansas City) Choir and the University of Kansas Concert Choir. Will be performed in Norway and Ellis Island in early 2011, and a documentary is being made about the piece. Available from Hinshaw Music, spring 2011.
- Venite, Adoremus (2009) A 6 minute original work for a cappella choir, divisi, based on the Latin text Adeste Fideles. Premiered December 2009 by the Houston Baptist University Schola Cantorum. Available from Hinshaw Music, May 2010.
- Te Deum (2009) A 17-18 minute, three-movement work for chorus and moderate-sized orchestra, suitable for church or concert use. Will be the inaugural concert publication of Jubal House, the publishing arm of the Brehm Center for Worship, which commissioned the piece. Recording is planned for the future, and premiere concert discussions are ongoing…
- Good Night, Dear Heart (2008) A 3-4 minute, simple acappella choral work using a text by Mark Twain, memorializing the infant death of a family member. Dan’s most-performed concert choral work.
- in paradisum… (2008) An 11-minute work setting Scriptural texts dealing with comfort in death. Premiered by the Bob Jones University combined choirs and symphonic wind band. Choral music available from Hinshaw Music, February 2010. Wind Band or Orchestral accompaniment available.
- De Profundis (Out of the Depths): A Choral Symphony (2006-2007) A 35 minute, six-movement extended work for chorus, orchestra, soprano, baritone, and boy soprano. (D.M.A. Dissertation) Awaiting premiere performance. Hinshaw Music has committed to publishing it in the future.
- Oread Farewell (2007) My first collaboration with Anthony Silvestri (of Whitacrean fame), commissioned by the University of Kansas. A poignant “farewell” for SATB a cappella. Available from Hinshaw Music.
- Three Nocturnes for Chorus and Percussion Ensemble (2006) A trio of settings on stars from Teasdale, Dickinson, and Whitman, for SATB chorus and percussion. Commissioned by the West Valley Chorale, Sun City, AZ. Submitted by its publisher for a Pulitzer Prize in music. Review in ACDA Choral Journal forthcoming. Available from Hinshaw Music.
- Words From Paradise (2005) A set of five choral pieces; each is a 8-part a cappella setting of one word from Scripture. The set includes Holy, Hallelujah, Selah, Hosanna, and Amen. Can be performed individually or as a 25-minute extended work. All five movements are in print with Hinshaw Music.
- Arise, Shine! (2006) 7-8 minute setting of portions of Isaiah 60 for large chorus and piano, or organ/brass/percussion, or full orchestra. Premiered in Carnegie Hall Feb 11, 2007, and has also been performed in the Lincoln Center and the Crystal Cathedral. Reviewed in the ACDA Choral Journal. Available from Hinshaw Music.
- You Are The Music (2005) For chorus, piano, horn, and solo soprano. Winner of the 2006 Vanguard Premieres contest. Will be premiered by the Vanguard Voices June 3, 2007 in Dearborn, MI. Available from Hinshaw Music.
- Make A Joyful Noise! (2005) 5 minute setting of portions of Psalm 98 for chorus and orchestra. Commissioned by the combined music departments at Dorman High School, Spartanburg, SC. Premiered at the SCMEA Convention, February 2006. Version with piano duet accompaniment should be forthcoming. Contact composer regarding score and parts.
- A Basque Lullaby (2003) A tender a cappella lullaby written for Leah before she was born. Winner of an honorable mention from the Vanguard Voices 2004 Composition Contest. Premiered by the Vanguard Voices at Christmas 2004, and soon to be released on a recording by them. Available from Hinshaw Music.
- Where Go The Boats? (2003) An a cappella setting of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic children’s poem. Winner of the 2005 KU Choral Society Composition Contest, and premiered by the KU Chamber Choir in spring 2005. Available from Hinshaw Music.
