  • GRAFENBURG Variations (Wind Band). Published by C. Alan Publications in 2009. Premiered by the BJU Symphonic Wind Band 2005, is a set of variations on the hymn tune GRAFENBURG. The text usually sung to this tune is Watts’ “Come Let Us Join Our Cheerful Songs”. This piece uses tiny snippets of the hymn tune as the motivic bases for the variations. Many moods are represented, but a sense of slow “gathering” of saints as they “join” their various “cheerful songs” is evident throughout.
